The playground equipment
at Bendorf Elementary School has been
repainted using the Electrostatic Spraying
System. |
In order to better maintain playground equipment,
Special Projects purchased an Electrostatic
Spraying System. The component and the electrode
are fitted to the gun body to generate an electric
field and are applied a negative charge to the
paint particles. These repel each other as they
move from the gun to the work piece and so distribute
evenly through the fine spray cloud and then
uniformly deposit on the positively grounded
surface. An effective material yield up to 90%,
time savings up to 80%, a markedly improved
quality of finish, less cleaning and a healthier
environment are the principal properties of
the process.
The purchase of this equipment is intended
to extend the life of playground equipment.
Special projects can completely paint three
(3) sets of playground equipment at one site,
utilizing three (3) CCSD painters for six (6)
days. Total cost for this process is approximately
$5,000. Prior to the purchase of this equipment,
the Clark County School District solicited bids
from contractors to perform this work. The low
bid from an outside contractor was approximately
$10,000 per playground set. The biggest cost
savings, however, comes from extending the life
of the equipment. Costs to replace the playground
equipment at a site are approximately $130,000.
