Civil Engineering Responsibilities

Civil Engineers (L to R): Tom Peot, Jack Reynolds, Elena Cernusca, Dave Holdsworth

The Civil group reviews all plans and specifications prepared by consultant Architects and Engineers, both new and renovation projects, for conformance with the CCSD Design Manual, ADA and Building Codes, CCSD Educational Specifications, Clark County Health Department requirements, Fire Department requirements, good engineering practices and ease of maintenance.

In addition, the Civil Engineering group is responsible for in-house design and preparation of contract documents for construction for all the civil/structural/landscaping projects such as: site grading, utilities, sidewalks, ADA compliance, parking lots, retaining walls, landscaping, xeriscape, sewer, storm drainage system, playgrounds, and playfields.

Our involvement starts from the initial project requirement and continues through developing the project scope of work, actual design of the project in the form of plans and specifications, and construction substantial and final completion by attending progress meetings and observing that the work is built as the design intended.
